Fam’s Brewing Co. is James Island’s neighborhood brewery, and for nine years the idea has stayed pretty simple: brew the beer here, give people a place to settle in, and let Famulari’s handle the food. That means New York-style and Chicago-style pizza, wings, burgers, two bars, a 3,000-square-foot dog-friendly patio, Team Trivia, Music Bingo, and plenty of reasons to become a regular.

That order seems to be working. Skinny Vanilla Latte just won Best Local Beer, our $5 Happy Hour won Best James Island Happy Hour, and Fam’s took second for Best Local Brewery in The Post and Courier’s Charleston Choice Awards. Charleston City Paper Best Of Charleston Awards also named Skinny Vanilla Latte second for Best Locally Brewed Porter/Stout, while Famulari’s won Best Pizza in both awards.
